Volunteer Opportunities!

Volunteer with the Summerville Orchestra

Summerville Orchestra volunteers are the reason why orchestra events are so successful. We depend upon our wonderful volunteers to help concerts and events function smoothly.

Within 2 business days, you will be contacted by our volunteer coordinator. If you do not hear back from us within 2 business days, please call us at 843-873-5339 to make sure we received your form. 

Volunteer form

Concert setup for mainstage productions:

  • Thursday evening before mainstage concerts, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., at Summers Corner Performing Arts Center
  • Must be able to stand for at least one hour, walk and carry boxes up to 5 lbs.

Concert day volunteers for mainstage productions:

  • Friday night, 5:45 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., at Summers Corner Performing Arts Center
  • Saturday matinee, 1:00-5:30 p.m.
  • Assist with final setup and cleanup as required, plus additional responsibilities as follows:
    • Greeters: Open door and greet attendees.
    • Ticket Helpers: Assist attendees with picking up Will Call tickets, replacing lost tickets, selling available tickets and answering questions.
    • Ticket Takers: Scan tickets as patrons enter facility.
    • Ushers: Guide patrons to their seats.
    • Program Distributors: Hand out programs to attendees as they enter the performance space.
    • Mobility Monitors: Assist mobility-impaired attendees with seating as needed.

Concert help at chamber concerts:

  • Assist as needed with setup/cleanup, assisting mobility patrons to their seats, distributing programs and answering questions.
  • Encore Series concerts are held at Coastal Coffee Roasters, 108 E 3rd N St., Summerville, SC 29483
  • Public Works Arts Center events are at 135 West Richardson Ave., Summerville, SC 29483
  • Additional events to be announced.

Dress code for all events:

  • Solid white top, solid black pants or skirt; flat or low comfortable dress shoes. If needed, suit jacket or dark jacket, or wrap or sweater in solid white or black. Tie is optional.

Background check:

All individuals must agree to a SLED background check (free to volunteers) prior to volunteering with the Summerville Orchestra.
