Summerville Orchestra collaborates with DD2 and more, Nov. 11 & 12

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. – Music! Dance! Visual art! The Summerville Orchestra will celebrate “A Salute to Young Artists” on Nov. 11 & 12, featuring the winner of the S.O. concerto competition, the Classical Ballet Centre, and artwork by area students. Also, on the program is acclaimed composer Chris Pilsner guest conducting Snow Falling in Autumn.

The second in the S.O.’s five-concert subscription series, this program is expressive of the S.O.’s collaborative spirit and multi-artistic engagement! Competition winner, Erin Yardley, will play French horn during selections. The program will also feature the overture to The Merry Wives of Windsor by Otto Nicolai, “The Hebrides,” Op. 26 “Fingal’s Cave” by Felix Mendelssohn and more!

The concert will be held at the Summers Corner Performing Arts Center with a pre-concert talk at 6:30 p.m. and concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.summervilleorchestra.org

The S.O. has a lineup of events to round out the year, including Music Chats with Wojciech at the Dorchester County Library on Nov. 16, a Holiday Concert Matinee on Dec. 10, and Public Works Art Center stroll featuring Strings for the Holidays on Dec. 17. The Summerville Orchestra seeks to share its love of music by engaging and enriching the community through the orchestral art form. The 75-member orchestra performs an annual subscription series of five concerts at the Summers Corner Performing Arts Center, along with many free concerts and events throughout the greater Summerville area including an Encore Series of four concerts (held at Coastal Coffee Roasters) and Music Chats with Wojciech (at the Dorchester County Library).
