Our orchestra takes on Verdi’s “Dies Irae” from his famous Requiem in April, and Charleston Opera Theater takes on his iconic “La Traviata.” A composer who not only transformed the operatic genre, but gave us some of the most emotionally and physically powerful music ever written. From the tranquil beauty of the Act 3 Prelude to La Traviata, to the fury and raw power of the Dies Irae, Verdi was a composer whose range was limitless.
